CEREC

CEREC, by Sirona Dental Systems, is the world's only system for the fabrication of all-ceramic dental restorations in one office visit. CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration in Esthetic Ceramics) is a revolutionary way to restore damaged teeth in a single visit. The high-tech computer and milling machine manufacture tooth restorations like crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers.

Chairside means Dr. Cranham can provide the treatment (crown, veneer, etc.) in one visit, and ceramic refers to the final product - a nonmetallic restoration bonded to the existing or remaining tooth structure. As such, CEREC restorations are extremely durable and natural looking.

A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options, other than amalgam, gold, and other metals, to repair decayed and damaged teeth. With CEREC, Dr. Cranham can use strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function.

With the CEREC method, there is usually no need for impressions or a two-to-three week wait for your restoration to come back from the lab. You don't have a second visit that might require numbing the area again, because the procedure is completed in a single visit!

For a CEREC restoration, Dr. Cranham will prepare the tooth by removing the old filling material and decay. Next, he will coat the tooth with the CEREC powder, so the infrared camera can map the preparation accurately and transfer the image to a computer monitor.

Then Dr. Cranham will design your new CEREC crown. You can watch him do this, or you can relax in one of our comfy chairs while you wait. Once Dr. Cranham has created the design, he will sendit to the milling unit, and your CEREC restoration will begin the milling process. This usually takes about 8 to 15 minutes.

After the CEREC crown has been fabricated, Dr. Cranham will bond the CEREC with special bonding cement and our laser. He will then make sure the bite is accurate and polish your new CEREC restoration.

WOW!   This was all done in approximately one hour.
